Inspired by Lingerie........

One of the things we hear most often from brides when they come into the store is that they have never shopped for lingerie before. This is usually followed by the married friend they asked to help saying that they have tons, usually gifted to her at a shower and that she never wears any of it. This often makes the bride feel frustrated and overwhelmed. As a bride, you know it is expected that you find something special, but what? More importantly, if it won't be worn, why add another expense to the wedding budget? Don't lose hope! It's worth it and we're here to help brides navigate through a world of chemises, garters, silks, stockings and everything in between! We know all the tips to guide you towards a drawer full of things you'll feel fabulous in.

Variety is so important. Most often women have lingerie that is all the same style or colour. They find one thing that works and buy it over and over again. Just like buying 20 pink T-shirts, your drawer will be full but you won't want to wear them very often. No matter how much you love a pink T-shirt, you won't feel like it every day or if you do it will become boring, like a uniform. Alternately, some women buy only what he likes. Just because he once said he likes a thong, it doesn't mean he wouldn't appreciate a boy short every once in a while. If you restrict yourself to just what he wants you will end up with two drawers. One will be full of things you think he likes and you wear on occasion 'for him' and the other will be full of flannel pj's with cute prints for you. Your lingerie drawer should be a blend of things that both of you like. Everything you have should be comfortable, fit will and make you feel good. If it is missing one of these elements, you won't wear it. It is hard to feel sexy while you are feeling self conscious or something is rubbing or digging where it really shouldn't.

The first step to having a drawer full of wearable lingerie is to go through what you already have. It is important to note that Lingerie, by definition, is anything that you wear under your clothing or to sleep on. Eliminate anything in your drawer that is the wrong size or that reminds you that it is laundry day. Lingerie is all about how it makes you feel when you put it on. If it doesn't fit or makes you feel frumpy, you'll never feel confident in it. Making sure everything in your drawer fits and makes you feel great about yourself will make it much easier and more fun to get dressed in the morning.

Before you head to the lingerie store make a mental note of what you have and how each piece makes you feel. If everything you have makes you feel the same way, you won't wear any of it very often. We always recommend shopping and especially packing for multiple moods. Do you have something flirty, something elegant, something cheeky or something glamorous? Now that you know what you need, you are ready to get started! Visit us at the Fraser Valley Wedding Festival; we will be giving a talk on how to create a drawer full of wearable lingerie. We'll have you reaching for silk over flannel in no time!
